CI Kelly Grant
- ABOUT ME -
Kelly began her sewing career at the age of 6 years old. Her first sewing machine was a Singer Featherweight and that same machine has been used to create many of her Judy Niemeyer Quilts.
While Kelly’s sewing was focused on clothing for many years she made the jump to quilting in October 2010 when a friend showed her the Quiltworx website and specifically the “Flowers for My Wedding Ring” pattern. She was HOOKED! She was encouraged to become a certified instructor and in February 2013, she attended her first class with Judy and has never looked back. She now has as she describes it, “Her dream job.”
With over five years experience, Kelly brings expertise and fun to her teaching. She especially loves to teach “newbies” the technique and is described by students as patient, organized, calm and fun. Kelly is one of the busiest of the Certified Instructors with 3-4 classes a week and teaches over 750 students each year. Her trunk shows are amazing with over 90 completed Quiltworx projects from placemats to queen size. She is comfortable speaking to groups of 40 or 400.
Kelly has begun to design patterns utilizing Quiltster and has three patterns now published by Quiltworx, Eclipse, Anemone and Basket of Rainbows. She traveled to Bali in 2018 and put together her first collection of fabric, Rainbow Sherbet released in May 2019 by Batik Textiles. She returned to Bali in 2019 to work on a new upcoming line, Dragonfly Spell to be released in early 2020. She was also chosen to design one of the color ways for the new Technique of the Month, Dinner Plate Dahlia. She designed two additional color ways besides Mardi Gras shown above, Summer in Cabo and Fireworks. Kelly works with Batik Textiles and Certified Shops to cut and package kits in these three color ways in wall, queen and king sizes. She also cuts and packages many other kits for Batik Textiles. For more about the kit options, go to the KITS page.
She is happily married; her two children are grown, married and on their own adventures. She recently became the Grammy to an adorable, happy grandson that is the best! So, while her hubby, Jerry, provides support she and the “grandcat” play in the studio. She resides in Surprise, Arizona but would LOVE to travel to locations up north during the summer months but anytime would be fun. Contact her if interested in having her come and provide a wonderful trunk show and class for your shop or Guild. If you are interested in attending a class in Arizona, check out her classes, Quilt Camps and Retreats.
